Privacy Policy

Effective 16 September 2026

Who we are

Lumen is an independent file conversion studio. This policy explains how the website and conversion engine handle information. It is written for the software as shipped: a Python host plus an in-browser workbench.

What we process

Files you convert. Many image, PDF, and document jobs run entirely in your browser. Those files are not uploaded. Jobs the browser cannot complete (including TIFF, TGA, AVIF, WMA, AVI, WMV, 3GP, and other FFmpeg routes) are sent to the Lumen Python API on this host. The file is held in temporary storage only for the duration of the job, then deleted.

Contact messages. If you use the contact form, we store your name, email, topic, and message so we can reply. Do not include secrets or sensitive documents in that form.

Local device data. Theme preference and recent conversion names may be saved in your browser’s localStorage. You can clear them with the browser’s site-data controls.

What we do not do

Third parties

Fonts and some conversion libraries may load from Google Fonts or cdnjs. Those requests can reveal your IP address to those providers. The Buy Me a Coffee button links to buymeacoffee.com; if you click it, Buy Me a Coffee’s own privacy terms apply.

Retention

Temporary conversion files are removed when the response is sent or when the process exits. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle the request. Server logs may record IP address, path, and time for security and debugging, then rotate in the ordinary course of running the host.

Your choices

Use Studio’s browser path when you do not want a file to touch the host. Do not submit files you are not allowed to process. To ask that a contact message be deleted, write again from the same email via Contact.

Children

Lumen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page.
